Growth area of Zagros from the city of Piranshahr in West Azarbaijan province to the Firuzabad in Fars province, including forests, semi-arid, with an area of about 6 million hectares (one-fifth of the country and 40 percent of all forests in the country) and oak is the most abundant tree species in this area. According to statistics, about 1 million and 350 thousand hectares of, Zagros, oak forest, leads to dieback or decline.

Aspects have investigated in this grand project:

  • Determination of microbiome of oak trees by metagenome Tanique and investigation about pathogenicity for isolated fungi and bacteria.

  •  Development of molecular diagnostic methods for rapid identification oak charcoal pathogen (disease detection kits)

  • Determine Minerogenic (cations, anions and heavy metals) and Biogenic in dust the region and introduced the most tolerant oak genotypes to accumulate and absorb contents dust.

  • Phylogenetic and Phylogeographic  analysis of genetic resources of Iranian oak species using genotyping by DNA sequencing (GBS)

  • Increase the amount and speed of germination and establishment of seedlings under drought stress conditions through the development of root system with the help of nano-particles, microbial inducer and physiological factors
